What better way to earn high school volunteer hours than spending time outdoors, making connections, and creating lasting memories at camp?

During a recent family camp weekend at the Kinark Outdoor Centre, one high school student had the opportunity to complete volunteer hours while supporting our Program Facilitators. From helping with crafts and games to assisting with waterfront activities, campfire programs, songs, and even our fun “Paint the Staff” activity, she embraced every opportunity to get involved.

“Thank you so much for welcoming our family and allowing my child to complete volunteer hours at KOC. She had a fantastic time and truly enjoyed being part of the experience.”

Beyond gaining valuable volunteer experience, she especially enjoyed connecting with staff and families, building confidence, and even making a new friend along the way.

“Once again, thank you for creating such a welcoming, supportive, and fun environment for our child and our family.”

The impact of the weekend was evident from the moment it ended. She was so happily exhausted from a day full of fun and activity that she slept the entire drive home. And, according to her, the camp popcorn was “the best popcorn ever!”

The family is already looking forward to returning to the Kinark Outdoor Centre, and we’re excited to welcome them back for more adventure, friendship, and unforgettable fun.
