I recently spent some time at the Kinark Outdoor Centre (KOC) documenting and photographing the wonderful programs, activities, and team building events in store for the seasons ahead.
Being at the KOC for just a few days during the initial training week for summer staff is quite an experience! For one, it’s definitely fun to get involved — and the fun is for everyone! The training draws the whole team together to better support our clients and families, just like you.
In my short time there with the group, I was able to watch the way they prepared for the season and the way they came together. The team at the KOC epitomizes togetherness; they are a cohesive unit, not only working synchronously, but really getting to know, trust, and support each other. They’re comfortable delegating tasks when they need to, offering leadership when the opportunity arises, and sharing in the flow of a day’s work. They work seamlessly to create an environment of inclusivity for all those who visit the KOC, always willing to make things happen and be accommodating – they’re truly an inspiring team.
Getting to know each team member at the KOC showed me that they individually bring their own perspectives, expertise, and years of experience making for a stronger collective. They’re part of our agency and have access to experts from across Kinark Child and Family Services, they utilize the organizations’ knowledge, consultation, and training from some of our clinical teams.
Through all of this, the team at the KOC brings the magic for each camper and family, and to each event hosted at the KOC. They aim to make memorable moments for all those who visit, giving a lasting impression of positivity. I know this not only from my brief but lasting memories of being there, but from the stories, reviews, and wonderful memories our staff have year after year.
But don’t just take my word for it, check out the program and activities available at the KOC.
